At Shanghai French School, the Model United Nations (MUN) program invites students to step into the shoes of global leaders. Through debate, negotiation, and collaboration on international issues, all conducted in English, students develop their ability to express ideas, listen to others, and defend positions with conviction, just like real diplomats.
MUN is much more than a simulation: it is an immersive and formative experience that prepares students to become engaged, responsible, and open-minded global citizens.
🌟 Our Students at the Heart of a Prestigious International Conference: CISSMUN XV
From 16 to 18 January 2026, students from Shanghai French School participated in CISSMUN XV, one of the most prestigious and rigorous Model United Nations conferences in China. This large-scale international event brought together over 700 delegates from more than 60 international schools, giving our students the opportunity to debate and collaborate with peers from around the world in a high-level academic setting.
18 students from the MUN Club from Shanghai French School, representing the Yangpu and Qingpu campuses, including 4 committee chairs, took part in the conference. Being a committee chair is reserved for the most experienced delegates: they guide debates, ensure parliamentary procedures are followed, and maintain the academic rigor of the committees, demonstrating their skill and leadership.
Under the theme “Chorus of Change”, this edition highlighted the power of individual voices in addressing global challenges, with debates focusing on climate change, artificial intelligence, social justice, and international cooperation. Our students engaged with maturity and critical thinking, proposing concrete solutions and asserting their leadership on global issues.
Two of our delegates were also awarded honorable mentions 🏅, a distinction rare in this highly competitive conference (only 2 or 3 delegates per committee receive this award), highlighting their excellence and ability to stand out on the international stage.
🔹 Recent MUN Engagements
9th Model United Nations – Shanghai I&C Foreign Languages School
On 14 December 2025, four students from the Yangpu campus represented Shanghai French School at the 9th Model United Nations hosted by Shanghai I&C Foreign Languages School.
This conference allowed our students to debate and collaborate with local Chinese schools on international topics such as sustainable development, the green economy, and youth engagement.
🏆 Our students were recognized with several awards, including Best Delegation, Best Speaker, Best Style, and Personality of the Day, highlighting their excellence, eloquence, and engagement throughout the conference.
🔜 Upcoming Conferences: NISMUN and SUZ MUN
Building on their experience at CISSMUN XV, the LFS MUN Club will continue its activities by participating in:
NISMUN, hosted by Nanjing International School, and
SUZ MUN, hosted by Suzhou Singapore International School in April.
For these events, LFS will again send 4 committee chairs and 15 delegates, providing students with new opportunities to develop diplomatic skills, leadership, and the ability to collaborate on international issues.
