30 years of Eurocampus: a week of celebration!

This week, Eurocampus Shanghai celebrated 30 years of Franco-German friendship through a series of events bringing together students, educational teams, and institutional partners. From Franco-German Days commemorating the Aix-la-Chapelle Treaty to the official ceremony marking the 30th anniversary, these moments showcased a vibrant cooperation, first driven by the students and later recognized by the authorities.

Commemorating the Aix-la-Chapelle treaty: Students at the heart of Europe 🌍

Signed in 2019, the Aix-la-Chapelle Treaty strengthens Franco-German cooperation across many areas, including education, youth, and culture. At Eurocampus, this cooperation came to life through the active involvement of students, who were the true protagonists of these celebrations.

Cultural discovery and sharing – Qingpu 🎨

On Thursday, January 22, the Qingpu campus hosted a morning focused on connection and exchange. Middle school students from LFS and DSS were placed in mixed Franco-German classes, with a name of a French or German city.

Over a friendly breakfast, students got to know each other before working in groups to explore their respective cultures, cities, traditions, and languages. These exchanges led to the creation of original posters, which were then presented orally to their peers.

The morning was punctuated by speechesperformances, and a flashmob, creating a joyful, collaborative atmosphere, bringing Franco-German friendship alive through the students’ engagement.

Creativity, Sport, and Team Spirit – Yangpu

The Yangpu campus continued this momentum on Friday, January 23, with a morning full of playful, creative, and sporting activities.

Students produced posters and videos highlighting the cultures, languages, and traditions of France and German. A dodgeball tournament, a highlight of teamwork and fair play, demonstrated the cohesion and collaboration that unite students from both schools.

These creations and shared moments showed that Franco-German cooperation is alive every day, in classrooms, on the field, and through exchanges between students.

A symbolic and inspiring Institutional Ceremony ✨

On Thursday evening, January 22, Eurocampus Yangpu hosted an institutional ceremony bringing together Chinese authorities of Yangpu District, Chinese educational authorities, consular representatives, school leadership, board members, community members, institutional, cultural, educational, and business partners.

Guests were welcomed with a photo retrospective highlighting 30 years of shared history. The European Anthem, performed by students from LFS and DSS, officially opened the celebration.

Guided by student masters of ceremony Helen (DSS) and Constantin (LFS), the evening alternated between official speeches and remarkable artistic performances by the Franco-German orchestra and choir (European Anthem, Mozart, Ravel), as well as a particularly moving student solo.

From student exchanges to the symbolic highlights of the official ceremony, this anniversary week showed that Eurocampus is much more than an institutional framework: it is a place where Franco-German cooperation comes to life every day.

This celebration marks the start of a year filled with new Franco-German initiatives, highlighting cooperation, openness, and European friendship that have shaped Eurocampus for 30 years.
