What a week! After four days of intense competition, the talented swimmers from the Shanghai French School wrapped up the Asia-Pacific Swimming Championship (CAPN) with an impressive 2nd place finish out of 13 teams. For the fourth consecutive year, our swim team secured the runner-up spot, right behind Sydney — the reigning champions.
It was a week full of high-level performances and powerful emotions. The competition was held across both our Qingpu and Yangpu campuses, with more than 300 swimmers competing across all strokes and events, and many personal records were broken.
A big congratulations to all participating teams, and a special shoutout to the top 5:
#1 Sydney
#2Shanghai (that’s us!)
#3 Phnom Penh
#4 Singapore
#5 DSS (our friends from the German School, well done!)
We are especially proud of our 50 student-athletes, who showed incredible determination and team spirit.
And let’s not forget the amazing work of our student officials, the trainee judges, young coaches, first aiders, and student reporters, all of whom took on their roles with professionalism and enthusiasm.
The closing ceremony on Friday night said it all: tears of joy, a touch of sadness as this unforgettable experience came to an end, and plenty of laughter and celebration.
The final celebration brought together several special guests, including: M. Joan Valadou, Consul General of France in Shanghai, M. Cario, Head of the AEFE Asia Sector, M. Jérôme Vanachter, President of the Shanghai French School Board, as well as other members of the Board, the school’s principal, executive director, and administrative and academic leadership.
We’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to our sponsors, Decathlon, ASI Movers, and Rocket Science, for their support with equipment, uniforms, and prizes. Partners like these help elevate our events to another level.
Finally, hats off to the entire sports department and to the Qingpu and Yangpu swimming teams for their flawless organization. And a heartfelt thank-you to all the parents and staff volunteers who supported poolside throughout the week.
Next year, CAPN — an AEFE-led event — heads to Singapore. And our swimmers will be ready to dive in, stronger than ever.
