For International Women’s Day, both our Yangpu and Qingpu campuses organized a series of initiatives led by students and teachers to raise awareness about women’s rights and gender equality. Students and staff were also invited to wear purple, the official color of the day, symbolizing justice and equality.
Why This Day Matters
International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world to recognize the achievements of women and to continue promoting equality between girls and boys. It is also an opportunity to learn about the women who have shaped history and to encourage discussion about the progress still to be made.
Shared meaningful Initiatives on Both Campuses
On March 9, students were welcomed at the entrance and received a special International Women’s Day bookmark featuring the portrait of an inspiring woman from history. From March 5 to March 10, an exhibition in the Piazza highlighted women’s rights and gender equality through press articles and digital resources on iPads. Teachers also led classroom discussions through the “Take the Floor” debates, encouraging students to share their ideas and reflections.
Students on both campuses officially opened the day, sharing the meaning of International Women’s Day and initiating the activities.
Qingpu – Further Engagement Activities
At Qingpu, students fully mobilized through initiatives combining creativity and solidarity: organizing cake sales to support Fang Fang Education Project, which helps provide schooling for girls from ethnic minority communities, musical performances by the Eurocampus band, theatre performances and the discovery of Simone Veil’s inspiring story through a special film screening.
